The National Childcare Trust
printBritains biggest support
group for parents-to-be
& new parents
The NCT is a self-help charitable organisation that covers the entire UK, run by parents for parents, there are numerous branches located throughout Sussex.
Each branch offers different services, these usually include a combination of ante-natal classes, new baby groups, open house get togethers, support for dads, working parents groups, nearly new sales of baby clothes & equipment, as well as loads of other events where you can meet other people going through early parenthood.
The NCT also offers free help with breastfeeding from trained councellors.
"Who better to help you with the whole
upheaval of pregnancy, birth & a new
baby than a network of other women
who have just been through it all &
know how hard it can be? "
Most branches have a breast pump agent from whom you can hire a pump, and many have MAVA bra agents who offer a measuring service at either home or hospital.
The NCT tirelessly campaigns for changes to make things better
for parents and parents-to-be, it successfully campaigned for fathers to be present at the birth of their baby, and for babies to remain with their mothers immediately after birth, instead of being routinely separated.
They are currently campaigning for all women to have a midwife they know throughout labour and birth, for women to have a greater say in the place of birth, including birth at home or birth centres, and for a caesarean birth to be carried out only where absolutely necessary.
The NCT offers wonderful social opportunities, organised
throughout the year, for parents and children.
It's a fabulous opportunity for parents to talk about their
experiences with others who have been through similar.
